PROTECT YOUR MIND AND CHOOSE A GROWTH MINDSET

I’m fascinated by human psychology and the inner workings of the mind.

The truth is that our minds are like sponges.

We absorb the words, images, and energy we come into contact with through experiences in our daily lives, and they plant seeds that contribute to the mindset (assumptions, methods, notions) we choose to operate from.

With the overload of information we're continuously exposed to (online and offline), the question then becomes:

"How can I protect my mind and choose a growth mindset (the belief that my abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work)?"

The answer:

INTENTIONALITY.

By intentionally choosing to feed our minds with content, words, visuals, and sounds that build up the energy we want to have.

If you want to be more compassionate and kind, it's easier to become that if you're consistently listening to words and consuming content that promotes compassion and kindness.

It will be difficult to grow in compassion and kindness by consuming content that promotes mean-spiritedness, toxicity, and sabotage.

If you want to be more confident and courageous, it's easier to become that if you are around people that champion you and others, and you consume content that provides tips on how to be more confident.

It will be difficult to grow in confidence and courage if you are surrounded by people that cut down or mock you and others, and you consume content that makes you believe you're always disadvantaged or less than.

If we want to protect our minds and choose a growth mindset, we have to be intentional - in choosing the words we use and listen to, content we consume, and energy we give / receive.

A major goal of mine is improved self-mastery because I can only keep being effective in leading others (as a manager, mentor, and leader) if I am effective in leading myself.

One way I practice intentionality is by reading books on self mastery (e.g. Ego is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday) and implementing the recommended practices more and more (e.g. self restraint).

What about you? What's one way you practice intentionality in your life?
